PVC rigid sheets accounted for the largest share of the building materials industry, at 60 percent, followed by the packaging industry and a number of other small-scale applications. The degree of hardness can be divided into soft PVC and hard PVC. The production process can be divided into PVC crust foam board and PVC-free foam board. General Properties: PVC resin is a white or light yellow powder, the relative density is 1.35-1.45. The hardness and softness of the PVC rigid sheet can be adjusted by the amount of plasticizer added. The water absorption and permeability of pure PVC are very low.

Mechanical properties: PVC rigid sheet has higher hardness and mechanical properties. And with the increase of molecular weight, but with the increase of temperature decreased. Rigid PVC mechanical properties, its elastic modulus up to 1500-3000 mph. The elasticity of soft PVC is 1.5-15MPa. But the elongation at break is as high as 200%-450%. The friction of PVC is general, the static friction coefficient is 0.4-0.5, the dynamic friction coefficient is 0.23.

Thermal properties: the thermal stability of PVC rigid sheet is very poor, starting to decompose at 140 °C, melting temperature is 160 °C. The linear expansion coefficient of PVC is small, and the oxidation index is over 45.

Electrical Properties: PVC rigid sheet is a polymer with better electrical properties, but because of its large polarity, electrical insulation is not as good as PP and PE. Dielectric constant, dielectric loss angle tangent value and volume resistivity are larger, corona resistance is not good, generally suitable for low-voltage and low-frequency insulation materials.

Environmental properties: PVC rigid sheet can withstand most inorganic acids, bases, salts, most organic solvents. Suitable for medicine, chemical anti-corrosion material.
